Picking Locks with Mensa AG 2025

🗝️ Unlocking Curiosity: Lockpicking Class at Mensa’s 2025 Annual Gathering in Chicago

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be teaching a lockpicking workshop at this year’s American Mensa Annual Gathering (AG) — taking place July 2–6, 2025, in Chicago, IL! This gathering is the largest yearly event for Mensans, packed with intellectual panels, social mixers, and entertainment (ag.us.mensa.org).

Why Attend?

My session is designed for curious minds eager to explore the craftsmanship and principles behind locks. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned picker, you’ll walk away understanding:

  • Mechanical concepts behind common lock types
  • Practical skills for picking basic locks
  • Ethical considerations and legal boundaries

Event & Venue

The AG will be held at the Hilton Chicago (720 S. Michigan Ave), overlooking Lake Michigan and Grant Park (us.mensa.org, ag.us.mensa.org). You’ll also have access to the Mensa Foundation’s Colloquium on July 1 (deep dives into AI and human intelligence) (mensafoundation.org), as well as a full schedule of talks, games, and meet-and-greets.

How to Register

  • Annual Gathering registration (required to access all sessions): Details and rates available on the AG website (ag.us.mensa.org).
  • Colloquium add-on (July 1): Optional, but highly recommended for intellectual enrichment (mensafoundation.org).
